Is a "fishy" smell an STD?

My girlfriend has a recurring fishy smell. She has gone to the doctor and they gave her antibiotics for a possible infection. They did not test her for STD's because she was embarrassed to tell the doctor she was with another woman.

Do you think this recurring smell could be an STD? It seems to go away with antibiotics, but keeps coming back. Any ideas?

Classically, the "fishy smell" comes from bacterial vaginosis and it improves with antibiotics. Your girlfriend doesn't necessarily need to come out to her doctor but she should at least say that she is sexually active so that other STD tests will be done.

And you, of course, need to go in and get checked as well! The bacterial vaginosis may be something you are passing back and forth. It is usually not a source of long term problems but can be irritating and unpleasant.

Lumps on both testicles...

I have a large lump on my left testicle, and two smaller ones on my right. When I masturbate my right testicle ascends into the groin area. What could all this be and what kind of a doctor should I see?

I know I'm free of any STD's as I recently got checked, and haven't had sex in about a year.

It is normal for your testicles to rise up as your scrotum contracts before orgasm. Lumps in your testicles could be normal if they are the epididymis which hangs over the back of the testicle, but they should be the same on both sides. Lumps that are different should be examined by a doctor. You can see a general medical doctor or a urologist (a doctor that specializes in testicular problems). Either way, please see a doctor.
